Sergei gave his life in the battles for Rabotino last summer, but his death became known only now
It became known about the death of a former handball player Sergei Chuprinawho gave his life defending Ukraine from Russian invaders.
For eight months he was considered missing, but now it is officially confirmed: Chuprina’s life was cut short on July 26, 2023 in the battles for Rabotino.
Chuprina was 43 years old. Sergei is a native of Vinnitsa, he became the vice-champion of the First League of Ukraine in handball, the winner of the Universiade among the teams of universities of the Vinnitsa region and was the captain of the national team of his region. Subsequently, Chuprina made a significant contribution to the popularization of handball, helping to organize competitions at various levels.
Let us recall that in March it became known about the death of the master of sports of Ukraine in rowing, multiple champion of Ukraine and bronze medalist of the European Championship Dmitry Gubanov, who joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the beginning of the full-scale military invasion of the Russian Federation and participated in battles in the east of our country.
The war takes the lives of many representatives of Ukrainian sports – from recent examples it is enough to recall the names of Stanislav Gulenkov, Alexander Bilokon, Bohdan Kozak, Sergei Rozhko.
Early in the morning of February 24, 2022, Russia fired rockets and aerial bombardment of most Ukrainian cities, and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war against Russia has continued for the 769th day.
