Fedorovtsev on the refusal of Russian rowers to participate in the Olympic Games: “I support, the conditions were humiliating”

Olympic rowing champion Sergei Fedorovtsev supported the decision of the Russian Rowing Federation to refuse the participation of national athletes in the Paris Olympic Games.

Previously, the Presidium of the Russian Federation unanimously supported the decision of coaches and athletes of the Russian national team to refuse to participate in qualifying competitions and the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The decision of the technical staff of the national team was taken jointly with the athletes after discussion in the general assembly. This is due to the conditions of engagement defined by the International Rowing Federation (World Rowing) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the admission of Russians to the Games.

“I fully support this decision and the statement of the president of the federation. It’s one thing when we participated in the Tokyo Olympics as a team of the Russian Olympic Committee, but the current conditions are simply humiliating. I commented on the World Championships on , where our athletes participated in neutral status, I was offended to see how our athletes started as strangers with white oars,” Fedorovtsev told .

The Paris Summer Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11.
