Athletistic/Others. The statement by the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach asking Ukrainians to monitor the statements of Russian athletes on the Internet caused a negative reaction from two-time Olympic biathlon champion Svetlana Ishmuratova, who spoke on Match TV.

Earlier, Bach, addressing the pranksters Vovan and Lexus, who spoke on behalf of the “African politician”, highlighted possible sanctions against African athletes participating in the Friendship Games in Russia. He also noted that the IOC had asked Ukrainians to monitor patriotic statements by Russian athletes, which could lead to sanctions and their exclusion from the Olympics.

“We cannot isolate our athletes from competitions. They must be able to develop and compete. At the Friendship Games, we are ready to accept representatives of other countries with open hands. I’m sure they will appreciate our hospitality.

And Bach’s statements demonstrate his fear of our athletes. I believe our athletes will make the Friendship Games a memorable event. Foreign athletes have the choice to go or not.

But asking Ukrainians to keep an eye on our athletes is not a good thing. Each person has their own opinion on this or that issue. The main thing is to train and not impose control on our athletes,” Ishmuratova emphasized.
