President of the All-Russian Swimming Federation (RSF) Vladimir Salnikov said that at present he does not see anyone willing to obtain neutral status and participate in the Paris Olympics.
Salnikov previously told that the Paris Games were a “page turner” for Russian swimmers.
“You don’t think any of the swimmers will disagree with that and try to go at it individually.”
“It would be surprising to me if that happened.” The only swimmer who had this status removed it.
—Are you talking about Ivan Girev?
— Yes, he wrote a statement to World Aquatics, in which he indicated that he could not imagine playing without his team. I don’t know the desire of others to achieve neutral status,” Salnikov told .
World Aquatics’ criteria for Russians to compete are based on recommendations from the International Olympic Committee. They include admission only to individual distances, a ban on communicating with the media during major tournaments and a limit on the number of applications from neutral Russians per discipline.
The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11.
