Alexander Bolshunov: “I owe nothing to anyone. I just go out and show results, even when I’m sick.

Three-time Olympic cross-country ski champion Alexander Bolshunov said he owed nothing to anyone in terms of results and noted that he was simply trying to perform well even during illness.

On Wednesday, Bolshunov won first place in the 15 km freestyle pursuit race at the PhosAgro Russian Cup final in Kirovsk. The athlete, who had the eighth starting number, showed a result of 34 minutes 27.3 seconds. The second was Olympic champion Sergei Ustyugov (5th starting position; +16.3 seconds). Egor Mitroshin finished third (7th starting position; +29.9 seconds).

– It’s okay, I won today. But how you feel at the end of the season takes its toll. Usually, at the end of the season, I feel light, even in training. Now, for the first time in a few years, I don’t have such lightness, there is a heaviness. I’m happy to have won. Even with such health, I was able to show a good result.

— Are you going to run 10 km uphill?

– Everything is going as usual. I will watch based on what I feel.

— How do you like the piece here?

— This is my third time here, the Kirovsk track is always in perfect condition. There is a lot of snow, the fans are happy too.

— Is it difficult to meet expectations?

— What expectations?

—You’re still expected to win.

– Nobody expects anything, I owe nothing to anyone. I go out and show results, even if it is difficult for me and I am sick. But I continue to go out and try to fight with everyone on equal terms, ”the correspondent reports, reporting Bolshunov’s words.
