Russian skier Sergei Ustyugov who finished second in the pursuit race of the Russian Cup final, said that the weather conditions make it difficult to pass the road in Khibiny.
On Wednesday, Ustyugov took second place in the 15 km pursuit race at the PhosAgro final of the Russian Cross-Country Skiing Cup in Kirovsk. He lost 16.3 seconds to Alexander Bolshunov.
— We imagined a fun mini-tour! I knew that the end of the season would be interesting and tried to prepare for important starts – Spartakiad and the Chechen Championship. I am happy that I have the strength to fight for the prices here in Kirovsk.
— What do you think about running uphill? Are you preparing for it?
– You can’t prepare for this. For many of our athletes, this is a new experience. I think everyone will like it. Many will understand what it was like before the Tour de Ski, will feel it and gain height.
— Are the Khibiny trails difficult or easy to travel?
— There is really a slight height here, which you can feel. Many athletes said that due to changes in temperature and weather conditions, the cloud descended and became a little uncomfortable. I am hypertensive myself and I feel it well.
And the trails here are really difficult. The first part, you continue to get up, and if there is a problem with your legs, it will be difficult, ”the correspondent reports, reporting Ustyugov’s words.
The Russian Cup final in the Murmansk region will end on Sunday.
