Wingegaard wins the Tour de France for the first time in his career

Danish cyclist Jonas Wingegaard of Jumbo-Visma won the general classification of the Tour de France for the first time in his career.

The Tour de France ended with a parade stage ending on the Champs-Elysées in Paris.

The stage, which did not change the first places in the general classification, was won by the Belgian Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck).

Wingegaard retained the lead. Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (UAE) finished second, at 3 min 34 s, followed by Briton Geraint Thomas (INEOS Grenadiers, +8 min 13 s).

Vingaard is thus the first Dane since Bjarne Riis (1996) to win the Grande Boucle in the general classification.

Wingegaard also won the mountain king jersey, Belgian Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) was the best in the points classification, Pogacar was the best young rider, INEOS Grenadiers was the best in the team classification.
