Malinovsky may change coach in the summer
Fiorentina turned to Alberto Gilardinowho currently trains Genoawith the aim of inviting him to the position of head coach from the new season.
At the same time, the Genoese club is taking measures to keep the coach. Next week a meeting is expected between Alberto and the Griffins’ management, which is ready to offer the specialist a contract extension until 2026. The current agreement expires in 2025.
Gilardino, 41, a former high-profile striker, has been in charge of Genoa since December 2022. Under his leadership, the team returned to Serie A at the end of last season.
Genoa is in 12th place in the Italian Championship with 35 points. Fiorentina scored eight points more and are two positions higher. The other day, the Violets took a step towards the final of the Italian Cup, beating Atalanta at home with a minimal score.
In the next round, Genoa, for which Ukrainian midfielder Ruslan Malinovsky plays, will play away against Verona on April 7.
