President of the All-Russian Swimming Federation (RSF) Vladimir Salnikov on said that Russian swimmers have not expressed a desire to apply for neutral status to participate in the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
Earlier, the head of the FSM called the upcoming Olympics a “turn of the page” for Russian swimmers who will not participate in these Games.
“This will surprise me, because Ivan Girev, the only athlete with neutral status, recalled it. I had in my possession a statement addressed to World Aquatics. I don’t know anyone else’s desire to acquire this status. There was no request. The athletes decide this issue themselves, but I don’t see anyone,” Salnikov said on the air of the program “Everyone for the match!”.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced in December 2023 that it would allow Russian athletes who successfully qualified for the 2024 Olympics to have individual neutral status without a flag, anthem or other national symbol. The IOC also banned the participation of athletes associated with security forces or who have expressed support for the SVO.
The Paris Summer Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11.
