St. Petersburg figure skater Andrei Kutovoy, 18, is different from most of his competitors. Elizaveta Nugumanova’s cousin is passionate about literature, he constantly reads and talks about books with interest. Additionally, Veronica Daineko’s student plans to become an author in the future. We asked Andrey ten questions about his main hobby.
1. How does the writing process work?
– No hurry. Now, due to preparation for the Unified State Exam, there is very little time left, but I try to maintain discipline in this regard, because one cannot survive only on inspiration.
2. What percentage is already ready?
— I can’t say, because I don’t know what the final volume will be. Now I have already formed a rough picture of the plot in my head, but I notice that during writing many changes appear, new important details appear that influence the further course of the plot. Genre: mystical novel.
3. Are you planning to publish it?
– Yes.
4. Who do you consult regarding your work?
– With nobody. I will take consultations after finishing to clarify the quality of the writing and find out what points need to be improved or changed.
5. Which writer influenced you the most?
– Lev Nikolaevich (Tolstoy) and Fyodor Mikhailovich (Dostoevsky), and from foreign countries – Jack London.
6. Would you like to succeed as an author?
— I would like my book to inspire people with new thoughts that will help them change their lives for the better. It’s more important to me. I want people to really like what I write.
7. Do you read about the plight of writers? Which life path had the most impact?
— I have read the biographies of many authors and I think that each of them had a difficult and eventful life. But I’m going to quote Jack London.
8. Why is it important to read?
— For me, literature is something that enriches the inner world, develops imagination and vocabulary. A person who does not read books will live one life, but the one who reads will live thousands! I think good literature educates people. The more educated a person is and the richer his inner world, the better for our civilization.
9. Can you recommend five books?
– “Martin Eden” (Jack London), “Crime and Punishment” (Fyodor Dostoyevsky), “War and Peace” (Leo Tolstoy), “Satan’s Sorrow” (Maria Corelli), “Pride and Prejudice” (Jane Austen) .
10. Can you name the books you plan to read in the near future?
— In the near future I want to read Pushkin more, and I also plan to read “The Resurrection” by Leo Tolstoy.
