European swimming champion Maria Kameneva says it is concerned about its European record, but there are already positive developments in its ratification.
Kameneva in 2022 repeated the European record in the 50m backstroke – 25.60 seconds, Evgenia Chikunova in the same year broke the European record in the 200m breaststroke – 2.14.70. Both records are set in short waters and are not ratified by European Aquatics.
— It is clear that there is no guarantee that the file will be approved, but there is an agreement that the process will be discussed somewhere in May, there is already progress in this direction. Zhenya Chikunova also has a world record, but I only have a European record, so I worry so much about him and would like to compete for him.
— What distances will you swim at the Russian Championships?
“I have declared my four distances, but I am not yet 100% sure which of the 100m I will choose (backstroke or freestyle),” Kameneva told .
The Russian Swimming Championship will take place in Kazan from April 14 to 19. Watch live broadcasts of the tournament on the channels of the Match holding company and on the sites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
