The striker returns to the club where he started his career
Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez confirmed a preliminary agreement to return to Nacional.
It is reported that José Fuentes, club president from Montevideo, personally traveled to Europe to invite the player to return to the former club.
The striker played for the youth and then for the main team of Nacional in 2005-06. It was after a successful season in Montevideo that he was invited to Groningen, where he began his European career.
Luis Suarez is on a free transfer after his contract with Atlético expired at the end of June. The Uruguayan could have become a River Plate player, but the transition fell through due to the departure of the Argentines from the current Copa Libertadores draw.
In the 2021/22 season, Suarez scored 13 goals and provided three assists in 45 appearances for Atlético in all competitions. At the end of the season, Mattresses finished third in La Liga.
Nacional plays in the First Division of Uruguay, leading the Intermedio tournament.
