Earlier it was reported that the club violated financial fair play rules
WITH Leicester no points will be deducted this season for financial irregularitiesdespite efforts English Football League (AFL).
However, the Championship leader still faces sanctions in the new season, regardless of which league he plays in.
Let us recall that in early March it became known that the 2016 English champion faces a points fine for violating the financial fair play (FFP) rules of the English Premier League, and specifically the league’s rules on “profits and sustainable development.” This season, the Premier League clubs Everton (twice) and Nottingham Forest have already been sanctioned for the same reasons.
Subsequently, it became known that the AFL, represented by its executive director Trevor Birch, contacted the Premier League with a recommendation to deprive Leicester of points this season. However, the Foxes appealed, and as a result, the arbitration commission ruled in favor of the club, ruling that there was nothing to punish it for this season.
Leicester has officially stated that it is open to cooperation with both the Premier League and the AFL, but insists that any accusations against the club must be “justified and proportionate”.
Leicester continues to lead the Championship, but third-placed Leeds are just one point behind. The Foxes can break away from their competitors today (Ispwich is also vying for direct promotion) if they beat Plymouth away.
