The Belgian played a passive fight, defending himself almost from start to finish
American heavyweight Jared Anderson (17-0, 15 KO) defeated the Belgian Riad Meri (32-3, 26 KOs). The fight took place in the American city of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Anderson quickly seized the initiative. In turn, the Belgian chose a passive defense and spent almost the entire fight in this style. Mary threw few punches, becoming more active only in the last round.
Anderson methodically gained an advantage in points, but did not risk finishing off his opponent, so as not to miss a strong blow. In the end, Jared coped with Mary’s onslaught. Following the results of ten rounds, two judges gave the American victory with a score of 100:90, one – 99:91.
At the end of August 2023, Jared defeated Ukrainian Andrey Rudenko by technical knockout in the fifth round. Meri, in his previous fight, defeated Tony Yoka in December 2023.
