Ukraine U-18 national hockey team beat her peers from Japan in the first match Division IA on World Championship 2024 – 4:1.

The first period ended with the score 0:0, and in the second 20 minutes the blue-yellows made the game, scoring three unanswered goals. Alexey Evtekhov opened the scoring, after which Mikhail Gaponenko scored a double.

The Japanese managed to soak Alexander Levshin in the middle of the third period. But the last word remained with the team of Alexander Bobkin – shortly before the siren, Gavriil Simchuk hit the empty goal.

In other matches of the first round of Division IA, Hungary defeated Denmark with a similar score of 4:1, and Germany beat Austria 3:2.

The blue-yellows will play their next match at the 2024 World Cup on Monday, April 15, against the Danes.
