Russian volleyball player Tatiana Kocheleva announced that she was retiring from work at the age of 35.
— How do I say “goodbye” to what I love with all my heart? What gives meaning to each day of life? Some decisions can be heartbreaking, but making informed choices is a freedom I talk about often. Today I would like to announce that I am officially retiring from my career as a professional athlete.
I was once driven by the desire to be at the top, and for that I devoted myself to sport. Now I’m happy to be able to finish my career on my own terms. Being called a champion is an achievement, but feeling like a champion is a real victory. I thank everyone who worked with me and invested their time and energy in me! I cherish, I love, I am proud and infinitely grateful for every moment spent in this wonderful world called “volleyball”! — Kocheleva wrote on the social network.
The Russian’s last club was Italian Vallefoglia, for which she has been playing since 2021.
Kosheleva played for the Russian national team from 2007 to 2021, winning the World Championship twice (2010) and the European Championship (2013, 2015).
