The Ukrainian U-17 national team held two sparring matches with Cyprus
Head coach Ukrainian national team U-17 Yuriy Moroz commented on the team’s sparring with Cyprus during preparations in European Youth Championship 2024.
“At the last training camp, in addition to the guys who were called up earlier, the coaching staff also used the nearest reserve. And I can say that the matches against Cyprus, especially the first match, showed that these players have potential. Therefore, the competition in the team is growing, and a place in the European Championship is not reserved for anyone.”
“As for the second game, we had certain personnel problems, so we could not rotate during the match, but even despite the negative result, the guys tried and were in no way inferior to the opponent.”
“I was pleased with the training camp itself; it was useful for both the players and the coaching staff. The players began to understand our requirements, the principles of the game, and this is good on the eve of the Euro.”
The Ukrainian U-17 team beat Cyprus in the first sparring (2:0). In the second meeting, the Cypriot football players won (2:1).
Moroz’s team will start at the Youth Euro 2024 with a match against Serbia on May 20. Next, Ukraine will play against the Czech Republic on May 23. In the final round, the blue-yellows will play against the hosts of the competition, the same Cyprus, on May 26.
