In the final match against Mallorca on April 6, Garcia came on as a substitute in the 91st minute and scored the first accurate shot in the post-match penalty shootout. Athletic won 4-2 on penalties and won the first Spanish Cup in 40 years.
Raul Garcia is the third player in La Liga history in terms of matches played (602). Only Andoni Zubizarreta and Joaquin Sanchez played more than him (622 each).
