Krasyuk: Jake Paul is ruining traditional boxing. If you put him with a real boxer, you will see a big difference

The Ukrainian promoter believes that in a real fight Tyson will “teach manners” to Paul, but does not believe that the boxing veteran will receive the appropriate license

CEO K2 Promotions Alexander Krasyuk critically commented on the fight planned for July between YouTube blogger Jake Paul and boxing legend Mike Tyson.

“As a boxing person, what Jake Paul is doing is not very pleasant to me. He’s ruining traditional boxing. On the other hand, it meets the standards of the time. His audience is not the same audience that grew up watching boxing.”

“His audience may not even know who Mike Tyson is. Because his audience is young guys who followed him, watched his stupid things on YouTube. Then at some point Paul decided to become an athlete. Boxed with rappers. Then with the UFC guys. He’s never boxed with boxers yet – I don’t consider Tommy Fury a boxer.”

“If you put him with a real boxer, you will see a big difference. But it makes no sense for him to box with real boxers. After all, he has no ambitions to become a world champion. His ambition is to hype, shake things up as much as possible and make money from it. And he does it great. Better than most traditional boxers. And if so, how can this be condemned? The man does his job. And he does it very well. If he succeeds, it means he’s doing everything right.”

“Of course, this destroys the foundations and traditions of boxing. What can I say?.. I personally don’t like it. Because if you look at them, what do you get? Why don’t you do boxing? Be a YouTuber, talk about something, then train a little and immediately fight Mike Tyson. Maybe even defeat him. This is, of course, unlikely. But nonetheless”.

“But there is money. And Mike Tyson agrees for money. And this one agrees for money. What will happen? If the fight is real, then I would say that the grandfather will teach the young guy some manners. If there is an exhibition, they will come up with some kind of scenario. This is how I see it. And the fight cannot be real. Grandpa won’t be given a license.”

The fight between Jake Paul and Tyson is scheduled to take place on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, USA. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TLDR) will require Mike to undergo specific medical tests in order to be cleared to compete under professional boxing rules.

It was initially reported that the Tyson-Paul event would be held as an exhibition fight. However, the fight itself will take place according to standard boxing rules. Subsequently, Jake expressed a wish for the fight to receive official status. Both boxers intend to apply to the Texas Commission to obtain the appropriate license.

On June 30, Iron Mike will turn 58 years old. In November 2020, Tyson had an exhibition fight with former world champion in five weight categories, Roy Jones. The match ended in a draw. On the undercard of the event, Jake Paul knocked out Nate Robinson.

Tyson had his last professional fight in 2005. Mike lost by TKO in the sixth round to Irishman Kevin McBride.
