2018 Olympic champion in PyeongChang, figure skater Alina Zagitova spoke about his studies at the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, and also commented on the rumors about his expulsion.
– I know that you study at RANEPA. In the correspondence department?
– Full time. Faculty of Journalism, direction “Production and Cultural Policy”. I study literature, and law, and history, many things… When I passed the exams, I thought for a long time where I should go. I wanted to be a journalist. Because now my life is connected not only with sports, but also with television, and that’s very interesting. It is not always possible to attend all classes, it is difficult to combine ice training and study. But I try anyway. I have already moved on to my third year.
This summer, in June, like all students, I passed the exam. It was very nerve-wracking, of course. But, thank God, everything ended successfully. I took exams and tests on a general basis. Sometimes the teachers gave me even more attention than the others. Which is doubly difficult. In this session, we had a topic such as law. I tried to study the laws, and there are so many that it is impossible to remember them all. But I prepared myself, I had a tutor. As a result, I passed the exam with flying colors.
But I didn’t take a physical education test. Imagine, there were rumors on the internet that I was expelled from the institute due to not passing the physical education test. It is very funny. I do sports every day and I have achievements. I thought they could give me automatic credit. I understand that everyone should be on an equal footing. But I train every day at the Ice Palace. We have both choreography and strength exercises there. We do push-ups twenty times … In general, I understood the physical education test – I passed it, – said Zagitova “7 days” .
Zagitova, 20, is an Olympic champion, world and European champion in women’s singles. In the winter of 2019, the skater decided to suspend her career.
