Russian swimmer Miron Lifintsev set a junior world record in the 100-meter backstroke.
Lifintsev covered this distance in the final of the Russian Championship in Kazan in 52.34 seconds. Previously, the junior record belonged to an Olympic medalist Kliment Kolesnikov – 52.53 seconds.
Kolesnikov was second (52.80), with third being Dmitry Savenko (52.90). Two-time Olympic champion Evgeny Rylov (53.13) took fifth place.
