Athletistic / Swimming. Russian Evgeny Rylov, a two-time Olympic swimming champion, said each athlete was free to make their own decision about participating in the 2024 Olympics by being neutral. In 2023, Rylov refused to participate in the 2024 Games in Paris (France).

“I don’t think it’s worth following the Olympics news. Actually, I haven’t made a decision about it, I’m happy with my life.

Efimova? If anyone decides to go to the Paris Olympics, I wish them good luck. Perhaps this attempt will succeed. Everyone makes their own choice, everyone has their own plans and desires. We are all responsible for the decisions we make. And each of them has consequences, both good and bad,” Rylov was quoted as saying by Match TV.

In February, World Aquatics chief executive Brent Nowitzky said the organization could review its eligibility criteria for Russian athletes ahead of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France. Now, to participate in international competitions, Russians must not only agree to neutral status, but also sign a statement condemning the actions of the country’s authorities. Later it became known that the need to sign a declaration was canceled and World Aquatics decided to finance the neutrality tests of athletes from Russia and Belarus.
