“Everyone is responsible for their own choices.” Rylov – about those who want to go to the Olympic Games and plans for the season

Rylov did not go to the first stage of the Russian Cup and refused to start in Banja Luka. We found out why.

— The program did not provide for a large number of pre-departures, so we skipped the Cup stage in Kaliningrad and prepared for the Russian Championship. In Obninsk, I swam well during this period, it was quite hard after such work, but in terms of speed and time everything was not so bad, ”said Rylov.

— Were there training camps on the ground?

— All preparation for the training camp took place in Krugloye. I have no difficulty training in Krugloye.

— You don’t want the sea?

— Maybe I would like to, but it will be in May, in Kabardinka.

— Is starting the season without many competitions a typical tactic for you?

“This time the coach decided to do the work completely through the training process, going through all the zones. This usually happened in adolescence, but now we have decided to repeat it.

— Why are you missing the departure from Banja Luka?

“It doesn’t make sense for me to start again, I have priorities for the competition, and that’s what I’m preparing for.” The rest is optional. This departure was not necessary.

— Between the Russian Championship and the Friendship Games, what do you plan to do?

— For now, I am completely focused on the Russian Championship, but I do not exclude that there will be, for example, the Champions Cup and other debuts this summer before the Friendship Games.

— What is more important this season: the Russian Championship or the Friendship Games?

– There is nothing like that. There is a long enough period between them so that you can prepare well for each of these competitions.

— You refused to participate in the Olympic Games. Did you stop following admissions news after that?

“I don’t think it’s worth following this.” I actually don’t follow up. I made a decision about it and I am happy with my life.

— If someone decides to go to the Olympics, how will you feel? Everyone is talking about Yulia Efimova – she does not rule out this possibility.

– I wish you good luck. Perhaps this attempt will succeed. Everyone makes their own choice, everyone has their own plans and desires. We are all responsible for the decisions we make. And each of them has consequences, good and bad.

— Have you followed the results of the World Championships in Doha?

– I saw the results. This time it was rather slow. I’m sure the speeds will be higher at the Olympics.

— Will the 200m world record be broken in Paris?

— It’s unlikely, but it’s hard to guess. However, anything can happen, but it is more likely that the 100m backstroke world record will be broken.

— Do you feel like you’re giving your opponents a gift by not going to the Games?

– For me, not for them.

— How do you perceive all the IOC declarations regarding the Friendship Games? Do you expect opponents from other countries?

“It would probably be interesting if someone came.” But the IOC is deliberately starting to propose sanctions. All this is already a standard scheme, so there is nothing surprising here.
