Figure skater Maria Agayeva told that she plans to learn quadruple jumps and triple axel (trixel).
Last season, Agayeva took ninth place at the Russian Championship.
— How do you prepare for the competition?
— I don’t have any action that I constantly do before competitions. I try to distance myself from everything that is happening. I go out on the ice and I only think about the element I’m going to do, and so on throughout the program.
— In February, you started training the quadruple Lutz. How are you now?
— Now I focus on the triple Axel – the quadruple Salchow – the quadruple toe loop. But I also train Lutz. I feel the trixel best. I want to learn quads and trixels and show them regularly at competitions. I will do everything to climb to this level.
— This is your first season at senior level. How would you rate it?
“I am happy that everything happened like this: I was able to qualify for the Russian championship, Spartakiad, I showed good results and did everything I could.” Overall, I’m happy with the season. I didn’t make any plans before the season started, I just wanted it to be bright and rich. I was happy after each tournament. And above all, I was surprised after the first place in the short program during the Grand Prix stage in Krasnoyarsk.
— What differences do you see in junior competitions and at adult level?
— There are more spectators in the stands, they are encouraging, applauding, getting excited. It’s very cool. Junior debuts are a little different.
—Aren’t you nostalgic for that time?
– Probably not. But I will say that now in juniors, the struggle is unreal. The girls are doing great jumps, ultra-si jumps, just an incredible amount in one program. The combat there is very intense. Nowadays, children aged 11-12 are already doing quadruple jumps – it’s very cool and fascinating. I wanted to go to adults, but I did not rush the time, I enjoyed every moment, ”Agayeva told .
