Ukrainian national hockey team lost in overtime Latvia in the control match – 2:3. The meeting took place in Riga as part of the preparatory camp for the 2024 World Cup in division 1B.

Dmitry Khristich’s team scored two goals in the first period. First, Gleb Krivoshapkin scored, and then Vitaly Lyalka converted the majority.

Even in the first period, Latvia, playing with the reserve squad, lost one goal. In the third 20 minutes, the home team managed to equalize the score and snatched victory in overtime.

On April 17, the teams will hold a second sparring session with each other. The meeting will also take place in Riga on the ice of the Daugava sports complex.

The Ukrainian national team will begin its performance at the 2024 World Cup with a match against Estonia on April 27. Next, the blue-yellows will play with the Netherlands (April 28), China (April 30), Spain (May 1) and Lithuania (May 3). The winner of the tournament will advance to Division IA, the team that finishes last will drop to Division IIA.
