Kolesnikov about two victories in one day in the Chechen Republic: “Everything was at the maximum, it was dangerous in freestyle”

Double Olympic medalist in swimming Kliment Kolesnikov said he did not prioritize between the day’s two finals at the Russian Championships and swam both to his fullest.

Kolesnikov won the 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle on Wednesday.

—Two “fifty dollars” a day. How did you distribute your forces?

– Certainly not. Everything to the maximum. There’s no other way, you’re cheating a little, that’s all.

– Egor Kornev lost 0.01 seconds (at a distance of 50 m freestyle – approximately). Was it dangerous?

– Dangerous. And overall it went well. I don’t remember swimming and feeling such competition at other distances, like the 100 meters. I saw Yegor nearby all the time. I thought I would become second or third. This 0.01 is lucky. If I had thrown another finger, the result would have been different.

— After the first day, they wrote in the comments: “What kind of terrible beard does Kolesnikov have? You didn’t want to try to swim to the final without being shaved?

— I have not seen any such comments. But to be honest, I don’t think facial hair affects the results that much. Since the semi-final, I have only taken 0.1 points behind my back.

— How do you feel when, being 198 cm tall, you stand next to Dima Savenko and look small?

– Actually, Miron is also already as tall as me or a little taller. The guys are already laughing about me being the shortest. Group photos turn out to be funny,” Kolesnikov told .

The Russian swimming championship will end on April 19 in Kazan. Watch live broadcasts of the tournament on the Match Holding channels and on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
