Ukrainian national hockey team prevailed over the second team in overtime Latvia in the repeated control match – 2:1.
The meeting took place in Riga on the ice of the Daugava sports complex as part of the preparatory training camp for the 2024 World Championship in division 1B.
As in yesterday’s sparring, the blue-yellows managed to take the lead first – this time Alexey Vorona scored with a long-range throw. The Latvians managed to equalize the score in the middle of the third period.
As a result, the game again went into overtime, and this time Dmitry Khristich’s team managed to take revenge for yesterday’s defeat 2:3. Alexander Peresunko scored the decisive goal from a pass from Philip Pangelov-Yuldashev.
The Ukrainian national team will begin its performance at the 2024 World Cup with a match against Estonia on April 27. Next, the blue-yellows will play with the Netherlands (April 28), China (April 30), Spain (May 1) and Lithuania (May 3). The winner of the tournament will advance to Division IA, the team that finishes last will drop to Division IIA.
