Triple Olympic medalist Yulia Efimova said that it would not make a decision on neutral status immediately after the Russian championship in Kazan.
Efimova finished third in the 100m breaststroke. She had previously indicated that she did not rule out obtaining neutrality status and participating in the Paris Games.
“I tried to chase the girls with the first fifty dollars, but I couldn’t keep the second.” There is no basis yet to hang on to. I always had this fuzzy feeling from start to finish. Let’s look at the results, it will already be clear. It’s still too early to say anything. There will be starts this summer and there will already be an agreement. For now, I’m just blurring. The best training for me is the beginning. Now there will still be competitions in Banja Luka, we need to start more to get in shape.
— Are you going to swim 200 meters breaststroke?
– Tomorrow is a day off, so I will rest and leave the state. Most likely, I will swim, but not because I want to commit mental and physical suicide, but simply because the best training is the start, ”the correspondent reports, reporting Efimova’s words.
The IOC announced in December 2023 that it would allow Russian athletes who successfully qualified for the 2024 Olympics to have individual neutral status without a flag, anthem or other national symbol. The IOC also banned the participation of athletes associated with security forces or who have expressed support for the SVO.
The Summer Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
The Russian swimming championship will end on April 19 in Kazan. Watch live broadcasts of the tournament on the Match Holding channels and on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
