Figure skater Anna Kolomenskaya, who dances on ice with Artem Frolov, told that she dreams of playing Mikhail Bulgakov’s “The Master and Margarita” in the program.
Last season, the duo took second place at the Russian Championship and the Grand Prix final among juniors.
—Have you ever wanted to translate a literary plot into a program?
— My dream is to unwind “The Master and Margarita” by Mikhail Afanasyevich Bulgakov. But you have to dedicate yourself completely to it, and it seems that I’m not ready for that yet. It’s worth the wait to mature even more as an athlete. The work above contains very mature adult images. They need more experience and understanding of themselves on the ice.
— Do you have a literary character you can associate with?
— I will name it, but perhaps no one will understand because of the low popularity of the novel. This is Vera Pavlovna from the book “What to do? Nikolai Gavrilovich Chernyshevsky. Why she? The plot takes place after the abolition of serfdom, at the end of the 19th century. Women then depended on their husbands and led roughly the same lifestyle. She was able to build her life as she wanted, despite the daily life of society. I am very inspired by his plight.
And also, probably, Margarita from the work “The Master and Margarita” by Bulgakov. I admire how much she was able to love Master.
— Which literary character can you associate your partner with?
“Behemoth, the Master’s cat and Margarita (laughs),” Kolomenskaya told .
