Borodavko sees no reason for conflicts in the team after the transfer of skier Vokuev to his group

Senior coach of the Russian national team Yuri Borodavko told that he saw no reason for conflict situations within the national team after the transfer of skier Ermil Vokuev to his group.

Vokuev previously said that in Russia “there is a popularization” of three-time Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov, and not of ski racing. After his victory at this year’s national championship, Vokuev pointed out that other athletes were not properly celebrated.

The Presidium of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) on Thursday approved the list of candidates for the national team and the composition of the groups. In the near future, the project will be submitted for approval to the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation. Vokuev is part of Borodavko’s group, which includes Bolshunov.

— Yermil and I haven’t had a conversation about joining my group. He simply fulfilled the requirements and became the champion of Russia. Therefore, he was included in the national team. But it will be self-trained.

— Nevertheless, are you not afraid of conflict situations within the national team after Vokuev’s comments about excessive attention to Bolshunov?

— Usually, conflicts arise for some reason. I don’t see any reason for this. Unless he creates this conflict himself (laughs). There will be a working environment,” Borodavko told .
