Olympic cross-country ski champion Yulia Stupak said she would continue to self-train and urged fans not to worry about her funding.
Earlier on Thursday, the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) approved the list of national team candidates and the composition of training groups for the 2024/25 season. Stupak joined the preliminary group of coach Yegor Sorin.
– Friends. Everyone has already seen the national team lists. I want to clarify so that there are no unnecessary stupid comments! Firstly, I am not in the main team, but in self-training! They are completely different things! Don’t worry about my salary. If necessary, I stop everywhere. They won’t keep it anywhere. I am now a free athlete, following my own path alone. Is it difficult? Morally – a lot. But I’m moving forward.
I want to remind you that sport is not your whole life. But it is an integral part of my life! I continue to train. She hugged everyone,” Stupak wrote on her Telegram channel.
Stupak missed the 2024 Russian Championship, which took place in the Arkhangelsk region. Last season she was part of Egor Sorin’s group and did not win any medals.
