Korostelev on charity match: “Skiers have a chance to outrun football stars”

Russian cross-country ski champion Savely Korostelev told that skiers and biathletes have a chance to outrun older football stars in a charity match.

On Sunday, in the Moscow region, a charity match “Football Stars” against “Stars on Skis” will take place, organized by presenter Andrei Romanov. All funds raised during the match will be used to purchase sports equipment for children’s biathlon and cross-country ski schools.

– It will be a charity match, we will try to help the ski and biathlon sports school and impose competition on the footballers. It is very interesting for me to play against top players like Arshavin, Bystrov, Pogrebnyak and many others. Even though we skiers have little experience in football.

– But you are much younger and faster.

— We have the ability to crush them, but we have to crush them competently to score goals. It’s a rather traumatic sport; we rarely play football. Firstly, we need to avoid injuries and secondly, beat the players,” Korostelev told .

Andrei Arshavin, Vladimir Bystrov, Vladislav Radimov, Pavel Pogrebnyak, Igor Korneev, Oleg Kornaukhov, Roman Shirokov, Alexander Makarov, Igor Semshov will play for the Football Stars team.

The “Stars on Skis” team included Alexander Legkov, Alexander Loginov, Anton Babikov, Eduard Latypov, Alexander Bakurov, Savely Korostelev, Sergey Volkov, Evgeny Uftikov, Victor Golovin, Ivan Zhilinsky, Dmitry Shukalovich, Gleb Retivykh.
