Gutzeit called the approximate amount of damage from the destruction of sports infrastructure in Chernihiv

At least $14 million needed to restore sports facilities

Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit talked about the destroyed and damaged sports infrastructure facilities in Chernihiv. At least $14 million is needed to restore them.

“Today I visited the wounded but indestructible Chernihiv. Football stadium and Olympic training center for biathlon. These objects, apparently, posed a great threat and were destroyed for this.

Olympic training and sports center “Chernihiv” – the stands were destroyed, the surfaces of the football field, the weightlifting gym, sports grounds, and the medical rehabilitation center were damaged. The estimated amount of damage is up to $9 million.

Center for Olympic training in biathlon – the administrative building, hostel and sports hall were destroyed. The amount of damage caused is approximately $5 million.

There are already 111 such facilities throughout Ukraine. Bombed, burnt out, torn apart by Russian shells. Ukrainian sport was, is and will always be. A peaceful and free Ukraine will rebuild everything again and will still host the Olympic Games,” Gutzeit wrote on Facebook.

Recall that the stadium named after Yuri Gagarin, the home arena of the Desna UPL club, was subjected to enemy shelling in early March, when Russia was actively destroying the infrastructure of Chernihiv.

It was reported that Germany and Borussia Dortmund would help restore the Yuri Gagarin stadium. Also, the arena can be renamed in honor of Andriy “Sheriff” Kozachenko, a fan of the Chernihiv team, who died in February defending the city from Russian invaders.

Ukraine is opposing Russian military aggression for the 154th day.
