Quadruple Olympic cross-country ski champion Teresa Johaug said she has not yet made a final decision on whether to return to professional sport in order to compete at the 2025 World Championships in Trondheim.
Johaug, 35, announced his retirement after the end of the 2021/22 season. She gave birth to her first child last May. This season, the athlete took part in the Norwegian Championships, where she won the 30 km race.
– Let’s see if I make it to the beginning. I try to train as best as I can. But I have to decide if I want to give my best at the World Championships. No decision has yet been made.
My husband asks me almost every day if I have made a decision. It’s very difficult. I really want to do this because I know what me and people expect. It’s very cool and a challenge in itself.
People really want me to focus on the World Championships and get back into skiing, which is really nice. I have to be 120% sure,” Johaug said, as quoted by TV2.
Johaug is a 14-time world champion and three-time World Cup winner.
