“After the uphill run, my legs could no longer hold me up. But such departures are necessary – one hundred percent” – skier Korostelev

Russian cross-country ski champion Savely Korostelev told that the uphill mass start at the Russian Cup final in Kirovsk proved to be very physically difficult.

The Russian ski season ended on April 7 with an uphill mass start at the Russian Cup final in Kirovsk. Korostelev became the winner of this race.

— You won the last race of the season – the uphill mass start in Kirovsk. It turned out to be incredibly dramatic – a crazy slope, people were “knocked out” on the track, Bolshunov simply fell exhausted after the finish. How was it ?

– Double sensation. As an athlete who has overcome this mountain, I didn’t like it. Because it’s very difficult to describe in words. You saw it yourself: everyone came to the finish line, fell and lay there. The same Sasha Bolshunov just crossed the finish line and immediately fell. My legs couldn’t support me. They didn’t even let me down. I couldn’t even fall – I just held on to the sticks.

And from the point of view of promoting skiing, this race turned out to be very cool. This applied to the television image, the audience and the atmosphere. Overall, I’m very happy with how the season went and ended. We need such races – one hundred percent,” Korostelev told .
