Ukraine won another gold at the European Youth Olympic Festival 2022

In total, our team got two awards on the next day of the competition.

The city of Banska Bystrica (Slovakia) hosts the European Youth Olympic Festival, in which the Ukrainian team participates.

On the next day of competition, our athletes won two medals – one gold and one bronze.

Ukrainian swimmer Mykola Kotenko became the best swimmer in the 200m butterfly. He finished second in the third qualifying round, then finished first in the semi-finals and then went on to win the final heat.

With a decisive start, 15-year-old Kotenko showed his best result at the festival – 2:00.24 minutes, almost two seconds ahead of his closest rival.

Another medal for our team was brought by 18-year-old judoka Ivan Kazimirov (category up to 73 kg). He started the tournament with three wins and reached the semi-finals, where he was stopped by Serbian Mikhail Simin. As a result, the Ukrainian reached the bronze final and won a medal.

To date, the Ukrainian national team has four medals – two gold and two bronze. Our team took eighth place in the overall medal tournament.

gold:

  • Radomir Stelmakh (artistic gymnastics, individual all-around);

  • Nikolai Kotenko (swimming, 200m butterfly).

Copper:

  • Nazar Viskov (judo, up to 60 kg);

  • Ivan Kazimirov (judo, up to 72 kg).

It should be noted that in total 120 sets of awards to more than 2000 athletes will be played in the tournament.

Ukraine in Slovakia is represented by 46 athletes who perform in six of the 10 sports represented (badminton, cycling, judo, athletics, swimming, artistic gymnastics).
