Stepanova: “I don’t strive to win everything. I will never become Terentieva, and even less Bolshunov.”

Olympic relay champion Veronica Stepanova responded to the head of the Russian Ski Racing Federation (FLGR) Elena Vyalbe who in an interview with regretted that the athlete does not realize his talent 100%.

Earlier, Vyalbe, assessing the results of the 23-year-old skier this season, said that she “still has about forty percent of her abilities left.”

– Wow, what a reserve! So it turns out that I go around everyone on one leg! Can I see the calculations?

Once again, taking this opportunity, I would like to repeat: I am not looking to win everything. I hasten to upset my fans and supporters: I will never become Terentyeva, and even less so Bolshunov, if only because I do not want to become them. I have my own project, which includes making cross-country skiing a real modern spectacle. This year, each race broadcast by was watched by around a million people. I want there to be two next season. That’s the point. But winning everything is boring and does nothing for development! — wrote Stepanova on her Telegram channel.

At the end of the 2023/24 season, Stepanova won the overall ranking of the Russian Cup and also became the best in the long-distance running rankings.
