– More economical than Alena. This is not some sort of criticism, just a fact. She’s a girl, she wants this, that… I only buy new things if something is damaged or dirty. — Is professional figure skating now more of an expense than an income for you? I mean specifically a sports career.

— If you do not enter among the winners, there is no prize money, if you do not enter the national team, there is no salary. Yes, now, for us, it’s a waste. But it’s our choice. We have people withdrawing from the Russian Championship “for family reasons”. We decided not to do it, even though we had the same “family situation”.

— Nina Moser recently said that half of Russian figure skaters plan to make money. Accept?

– Partially. Figure skaters are the same people; it would be strange if a person over twenty years old did not think about making money. How then should he live? When juniors don’t think about money, well, everything is clear, their parents help them. And adults must provide for themselves. It would be stupid not to think about making money.

Returning to the Russian Championship, I don’t blame those who withdrew from the tournament. But from a sporting point of view, it’s strange to withdraw from a tournament for which you are already qualified,” Kunitsa told .

Kostornaya is the 2020 European single skating champion. The athlete has been pair skating with Kunitz since 2023.
