The Swedes applauded. Vorskla scores for the second leg vs AIK

Sport Arena analyzes the actions of the Poltava Vorskla players in the second leg of the Conference League qualification against the Swedish AIK

Having earned the sympathy of even the Swedish fans, Vorskla entered the second match with AIK with one goal advantage. Nevertheless, AIK also drew conclusions from the defeat, a week ago, taking revenge for the failure 2:3 and knocking out the Ukrainian team – 2:0. How did the Vorsk team play the second Swedish match and why did they lose to AIK? The Sport Arena is being dismantled.

  1. Dmitry Riznyk – 6.0

>> Defeat is always the goalkeeper’s burden, but Riznyk is the last one who can blame himself for being knocked out by AIK. In the moment with the goals of the hosts, his task was complicated by a rebound, but even there he tried to save to the last, raking the ball in dizzying jumps. Dmitry rescued more than once (five saves), reacting to the blows of Guidetti and Stefanelli from close range, rebounding from his at the beginning of the second half.

  1. Igor Perduta – 5.0

>> Became a victim of communication Bjornstrom and Otieno, who, in general, won this confrontation. He played unsuccessfully already in the 15th minute, when, together with Yavorsky, he didn’t stop Guidetti’s approach to the goalkeeper, and even unsuccessfully ricocheted under his rebound (it’s good that John also kicked in that episode). Before the break, he stopped Otieno, but did not finish the game with him, gave him a pass in the fall and got up under the blow of Mendez, disorienting Reznik with a rebound. At the 56th minute, with a numerical advantage, Stefanelli did not have time to prevent him from breaking through.

  1. Sergei Yavorsky – 5.5

>> The veteran played this match unsuccessfully – as well as the entire defensive link of Vorskla. Although he got away from the same gross mistakes as other defenders, he also did not help out in a number of moments. Guidetti and Stefanello shot more than once from close proximity to Riznyk, and the experienced Yavorsky more than once found himself behind his opponents with thin split passes and painful flank shots.

  1. Djoko Zaikov – 5.5 << 30' 38. Chelyadin

>> Even in the first half, he was substituted due to an injury – Vorskla, as it turned out, was not ready for the loss of a leading defender.

  1. Andrei Batsula – 5.5

>> extremely unsuccessfully played in the center of the field in the 15th minute, when the counterattack had to finish with a goal by Guidetti. Didn’t keep track of Mendez, who managed to shoot the gate in stoppage time of the first half and opened the scoring. Moments like those in the 74th and 99th minutes, when Batsula served well against Stepaniuk, were not enough to consider his work done – even if the opposite flank lost even more catastrophically.

  1. David Putslin – 5.5

>> He worked diligently in the center of the field, although again it seemed that under Till, Oleinik and Kozyrenko, Putslin had too much work to do. Horvath is remembered for several tough tackles, a warning and sagging in several moments, when AIK carried out breakthrough attacks precisely through the central bridgehead. We don’t know yet how well Vorskla will move to 4-4-2 from Skrypnik, but so far it seems that David is getting too much work on his shoulders due to the lack of creative midfielders.

  1. Vincent Till ‒ 5.5 << 74' 95. Felipe

>> We don’t know what will happen next, but so far Vincent is far from being Olivier, let alone Sebastian. His opponent Björnström simply scoffed at him sometimes, as in the moment on 37 minutes, when AIK’s left-back overtook Till and broke into a striking position. Vincent did not keep up with him, fouled, the first of the Poltava team “sat down” on a yellow card. He was remembered for two good shots in the first half, but also for the fact that Perduta and Putslin did not help much in the work of selecting the ball.

  1. Denis Oleinik – 5.0 <<95' 15. Kulakovskiy

>> Oleinik’s past is brilliant – Dynamo, Dnepr, Metalist, national team. Until recently, I made a difference in the Finnish SIK. However, it must be admitted that in the matches with AIK, the eminent newcomer did not help Vorskla. In the return match, he was remembered for a not entirely successful serve-hit, a warning that Otieno earned on him, and a replacement. And I wanted – knowing the high individual level of Denis – much more.

  1. Yuriy Kozyrenko – 6.0

>> The hero of the first match also tried this time, tried to shoot several times and even forced Nordfeldt to work. However, luck turned away from Kozyrenko, and the partners did not always understand (although he tried to combine with Batsula and Perduta). Yuriy did not run in his own half – just before the break he was nearby, but he let the wall win back, after which Otieno burst into the penalty area and assisted Mendez with a goal.

  1. Ruslan Stepanyuk – 5.5

>> Vorskla is the most productive in the attacking group – despite the fact that this is also an unsuccessful match by Stepaniuk. Twice – in the second half and in extra time – he responded to Batsula’s flank passes and serves, in the second case it was dangerous. It is a pity that even the best blow from the Poltava team – and Ruslan had it – did not bring success. But it was because of Stepaniuk that Bjornström scored in the 107th minute. For this kiks could be rehabilitated in the 118th minute, but still struck above the gate.

  1. Marlison – 5.0 << 74' 14. Kravchuk

>> The Brazilian, it seems, will take more time to adapt in Vorskla – in Sweden, he “dissolved” on the field. Twice I tried to break through after the break, but in general, of course, I did not give the expected sharpness. Metalist 1925 lost after Marlison’s departure, but it is not yet clear whether Vorskla acquired it.

Substitutions

  1. Zaikov >> 30′ 38. Artem Chelyadin – 5.0

>> The Vorsklyansky wagon was forced to replace the injured Zaikov, so we will partially reduce the criticism, realizing that he was doing a job that was not inherent in himself (another question is why Djoko had to be replaced by midfielder at the start of the season). Chelyadin did not play very well in many moments. In particular, when Bjornström could score in the 38th minute. When Mendel scored, Artem did not even have time to return to his zone. After the break, he surrounded Stefanelli with Perduta and Yavorsky, but the Argentinean managed to break through. He lost the duel to Guidetti, who closed the flank chamber from a deadly position. Of course, with a crazy blow from the depths, he also had less chance to help.

  1. Till >> 74′ 95. Felipe Rodriguez – no

>> Tried to revive the game (proof – a long-range attempt), tried not to avoid the fight (proof – yellow card). However, the change in the game is not made.

  1. Marlison >> 74′ 14. Daniil Kravchuk – no

>> He tried, but did not become more noticeable than Marlison – although this was not a difficult task.

  1. Oleinik >> 95′ 15. Artem Kulakovskiy – no

>> The last substitution of the Vorsklians didn’t work either – and in general there was an impression that they would have problems with the depth of the squad and the reserve.
