Synchronized swimmer Doroshko: “I would like to return to international competitions, but I am afraid for the judging”

Double world champion in synchronized swimming Maya Doroshko said in an interview with that she misses international competitions, but at the same time she is worried about refereeing according to the new rules.

Doroshko won the technical program of the Russian Championship, which takes place in Yekaterinburg, on Wednesday along with Svetlana Kolesnichenko. The Russian national team will miss the Olympic Games in Paris since, according to the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee, Russians cannot participate in group events, including duets.

– Doesn’t it seem that it is better to wait for this period without international departures while the new rules adapt to reality?

– I always want to come back to international competitions. But, again, using the example of Vasilina Khondoshko, we saw that with the greatest difficulty she achieved the artistic minimum. It’s scary that this can happen – we will do everything perfectly, good complexity, but another indicator will be lowered for us. It’s frightening.

– Do you want the group competition at the Olympic Games to be won by the team that fields a man?

– The main thing is that the team is truly the best, and it doesn’t matter whether it has a man or not. For me this is unprincipled,” Doroshko told .

The Russian Synchronized Swimming Championship will take place in Yekaterinburg from April 24 to 27. Watch live broadcasts of the tournament on the Match Holding channels and on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
