Double Olympic figure skating champion Evgeny Plushenko admitted that a few months ago he underwent serious spinal surgery.
— My friends, three months ago I underwent the fifth, once again the most complex, spinal operation. We did not advertise it and therefore did not organize our traditional spring ice tour in Russia. The first show after the operation took place yesterday in Minsk! I’m happy to have played for you with my team! I would like to thank my great specialist, Doctor Dmitry Nikolaevich Dzukaev, for making the impossible possible with his golden hands. You said I’d be skating in three months, but I’m already skating, spinning and jumping! I am rediscovering a full sporting life thanks to you! — wrote Plushenko on social networks.
The skater also spoke about the upcoming ice shows that will take place in Tashkent and Baku.
Plushenko is the 2006 Olympic champion in individual skating, as well as the 2014 Sochi Olympic champion in team competitions.
