Samusenko: “I’m doing well in butterfly, but I’m not going to give up on backstroke. »

Medalist at the World Short Course Swimming Championships Pavel Samousenko declared that he was not going to give up playing on the back, despite the strong competition in this discipline on the Russian scene.

Two-time Olympic champion Evgeny Rylov, two-time Olympic medalist and world record holder Kliment Kolesnikov and junior world record holder Miron Lifintsev are competing in the backstroke swim in Russia. On Saturday, Samusenko took third place in the 100m at the Swim Wars competition in Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina).

— At the Russian Championships, you also swam in dolphin. For what?

“I always had three bases: the dolphin, the backstroke and the front crawl. But I’m not yet at that level in freestyle. “Dolphin” is going well.

“But it made your schedule complicated.”

— I have always swum several distances in a row, I am used to it and the load does not seem so strong. For me, swimming several hundred dollars in a row is easier than swimming just 200 meters.

—Have you thought about getting into butterfly racing?

“I started from the back and I want to stay at that, after all, we have done a very big layer of work, so I have no intention of abandoning this method of swimming. And the “dolphin » is also not easy to prepare, but in this mode, as today, it is possible to combine the back and the “dolphin”.

— What to do when the level of competition between spin players becomes higher and higher every year?

– Wait, work, endure. These are the only options. Apparently it’s time now. I also need to work on my head. I have some stagnation now, but the guys swam faster. But we do not get discouraged and continue to work,” Samusenko told .

The Swim Wars competition in Banja Luka will end on April 28. Watch live broadcasts on Match Igra and on the websites matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru.
