“I was very happy to have the chance to participate in the most important tournament of the season” – figure skater Fursova tells how she replaced Valieva at the Spartakiad

Figure skater Lyudmila Fursova told that she really hopes to participate in the Spartakiad, because she wants to compete against strong opponents.

The Spartakiad of the Strongest took place in mid-February in Magnitogorsk. Kamila Valieva , previously announced on the list of participants in the tournament, had to withdraw after the announcement of his disqualification for doping. The first alternate, Lyudmila Fursova, replaced Valieva. She took 11th place in the tournament.

“At first I didn’t know if I would go to the Spartakiad, but I really hoped. In the end it turned out that one person withdrew and I was the first replacement. Of course, I was very happy to have the chance to participate in the most important tournament of the season. In general, I prefer to compete against strong opponents. It motivates you to do your job better. You want to be on the same level as them and for that you try to show everything,” Fursova told .

The day before, Fursova won silver at the tournament “For the prizes of the St. Petersburg Figure Skating Federation”, with a score of 127.29 points. She trains in Oleg Tataurov’s group.
