Ruslan Ternovoy, two-time Russian champion in diving, spoke about pleasant victories and the most terrible moments of his career.
– When you win in the individual championship, it’s much cooler than a synchronized or team victory. So actually I spend more time on individual jumps.
I once dreamed of jumping with Sasha Bondar. On the 10 meter platform he was the leader of the national team, so of course I wanted to try myself in tandem with the best. And from the first training everything started to work for us, – said Ternovoy RT.
– Terrible events? This has happened twice in my life. Once, when we were at Round training camp, I took three turns back from the handstand and got lost in the air. A month later, I went to do the same jump at my home in Penza: I cannot express in words the horror I experienced before forcing myself to jump. The second time I was very scared when I arrived at CSKA from my Penza swimming pool in Burtasy. And there are low ceilings, it’s dark … I look at the side tower and there is only one thought in my head: how can you jump from there? But I started to practice and discovered with great surprise that the swimming pool, although it looks dark, is actually not scary at all. And it’s easy to navigate in it, and it’s comfortable to jump in, ”added the athlete.
