Russian swimmer Yegor Kornev won gold in the 50 meter freestyle at the international Swim Wars competition in Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina).
Kornev clocked 22.12 seconds in the final, Olympic medalist Kliment Kolesnikov came second (22.38) and another Russian representative, Andrei Minakov, took third place (22.53). Russian Miron Lifintsev (22.83) is fourth.
In the women’s 50-meter freestyle, Russian Arina Surkova won (24.91), her compatriot Daria Trofimova was second (25.44), and the Dutch Mila van Wijk (25.52) was third. Russian Yana Shakirova finished fourth (25.74).
The competition in Banja Luka will take place on April 27 and 28. For many leaders of the Russian team, this is the first international competition abroad since 2022.
