Figure skater Zonov: “It’s hard to get into a quadruple lutz, I injured my leg on it”

Winner of the Russian Junior Figure Skating Grand Prix Fyodor Zonov spoke about the difficulties of performing a quadruple Lutz.

— This season you added a quadruple loop to your programs and also noted that in training you worked on a quadruple Salchow, flip and lutz. How are things going with the quads now?

“I cook everything, but I take a little less Lutz.” Although I myself understand that I can jump quadruple, and this is just a psychological moment: due to the fact that I injured my leg on it, it is difficult for me to get into it. I think we will increase the volume of jumps, lutzes and other jumps, we need to work more. We have two hours of ice, we need to have time to skate the program, jump out of our set, have time to work the quads and do some pirouettes. There is not much time left to study new jumps, but I think it is possible,” Zonov was quoted as saying by “Championship”.

Zonov is a silver medalist at the St. Petersburg Cup. He trains in Valentina Chebotareva’s group.
