Figure skater Malinin did not rule out that he would try to perform a quadruple jump

2024 world figure skating champion Ilya Malinin stated that he was able to perform a quadruple jump.

In March, the World Championships were held in Montreal, where Malinin, representing the United States, became the best in men’s individual skating. During the free program, the 19-year-old skater completed six quadruple jumps, including a 4.5-turn Axel.

— If you look at figure skating, 30 years ago people thought the triple axel was impossible. However, many people now complete four rotations in the air, and I became the first to complete four and a half rotations. In fact, I think I’m capable of doing a quadruple jump or even something more,” Malinin said, as quoted by The Guardian.

Malinin was born in the United States to the family of figure skaters Tatyana Malinina and Roman Skornyakov, who competed for Uzbekistan.
