Rossoneri management selects from three Portuguese specialists
According to the latest data, the top list of candidates for the position of replacement Stefano Pioli as new head coach Milan are three Portuguese – Sergio Conceição, Ruben Amorim And Paulo Fonseca.
At the end of April, Conceição extended his contract with Porto until the summer of 2028. However, not everything is rosy in his situation. The 49-year-old is reportedly on bad terms with Andre Villas-Boas, who has become the new Dragons president.
39-year-old Amorim, almost five minutes into the Portuguese champion with Sporting, has long been associated with Liverpool – Ruben was considered one of the main candidates for the role of Jurgen Klopp’s successor. It was reported that the parties even reached a verbal agreement, but the Portuguese unexpectedly began negotiations with West Ham. The Reds then switched to Arne Sloth.
This is not the first time Fonseca has appeared on the shortlist of potential Milan managers. It is believed that the Lille coach, who previously worked with Porto, Braga, Shakhtar and Roma, is as similar to Pioli as possible in character and style of play. In addition to Milan, West Ham and Marseille showed interest in the 51-year-old coach.
In addition to the above-mentioned Portuguese, another ex-Miners mentor, Italian Roberto De Zerbi, who works in Brighton, is also vying for the post of Milan coach.
Milan is in second place in Serie A, Pioli’s team has failed to win five matches in a row in all tournaments. The Rossoneri will face Genoa in their next match on May 5.
