Shovkovsky: I always tell the players before the game that when they enter the field they enjoy every moment of the game

The Kievans achieved a crushing victory over Kolos

Head coach Dynamo Alexander Shovkovsky commented on the crushing victory over Kolos (5:0) in the 27th round of the UPL.

“We are going out to play against an opponent who has some tactical plans and is preparing to play with us. We can understand exactly how the opponent will build his game when the game starts. During the game it is more difficult to make certain adjustments and make comments to the players, but during the break there is time for this. This is the first.”

“The second point is that all players have certain loads on the field, perform a certain amount of work and, accordingly, get tired. When they get tired, they begin to make mistakes. You need to count on this too. We understood that the opponent would build their game very closely, and I specifically watched the U-19 match the day before, realizing that the team with which the head coach worked would play in approximately the same way.”

“We took some points into account, and for some we had to make certain adjustments during the break. But we also understood that the first goal we scored could affect the game. In principle, that’s what happened. We scored the first goal and then capitalized on some good execution in the second half. Although in the first half we also had some pretty good chances, we didn’t manage the ball well enough.”

“Sometimes not everything goes according to our plan, but we play against teams that also build tactical schemes and create goals for the game. I always tell the players before the game that when they go out onto the field, they should enjoy every moment of the game, every action they take, no matter whether it’s in defense or attack. For the team, it doesn’t matter who scores, it will put the decisive point. It is important that this point is eventually accomplished. And who it will be is not important.”

Dynamo is in second place in the UPL. In the next round, Shovkovsky’s team will take on championship leader Shakhtar. The match will take place on May 11.
