Skaters Milana Kuzmina And Dmitry Studenikin who practice ice dancing, told that in their first season at the adult level, they wanted to please the judges and the audience.
Last season, Kuzmina and Studenikin took 3rd place in the final of the Russian Grand Prix among juniors and became fourth at the Russian Championship.
— How is the preparation for the season going?
Milana: Preparations are in full swing. We work on sliding and improving our skating skills. We now attach great importance to ribbing and high-quality execution of steps, so that we can transfer all this into programs in the future. We also work in unison in pairs, trying to monitor each other better.
Dmitry: We are preparing with all our might for the upcoming season. Yes, we work and improve all the aspects listed by Milana, we also spend enough time in the gym, practicing dancing, lifting and choreography.
— Will there be new programs? Are you going to reveal any secrets?
Milana: Of course they will. We have already choreographed the free dance. Now we slowly clean it and roll it up. We arrange everything according to the music, we try to make everything count, the accents. We also search and watch upbeat dance music. But it’s too early to reveal secrets (laughs). I will say we really, really like what’s coming out, even at this point it all looks good.
Dmitry: Of course, there will be new programs. We have already choreographed the free dance, now we practice it. We will not reveal the secrets of the new productions.
— Are there expectations from the first season at a new level? A slight fear?
Milana: There are no expectations yet, we want to show ourselves. The judges, the public will enjoy it and, of course, have fun! I have no fear, at least not yet. I’m waiting for the next season with great interest and desire!
Dmitry: We have no expectations for the upcoming season. We want to skate and perform well. Make a good impression on everyone who watches us. There are no fears, we just move forward with interest.
The duo trains under the guidance of coaches Irina Zhuk and Alexander Svinin.
